R.I.P. Commonwealth Almond Milk

The rumours are true, the reports are in. 

We're finishing our delicious house made almond milk in exchange for the fun new addition of Oatly Oat Milk!

Not to leave you in the lurch we're publishing our Almond Milk Recipe for all of you Almond-Heads out there to enjoy at home anytime!

Recipe Follows below:

Weighing Unsoaked Almonds



Ingredients:

 

12oz or 340 grams Raw Almonds

1 Liter Filtered Water, plus more for soaking

Pinch of Sea Salt

5 Medjool Dates 

1 Tbsp of Vanilla Extract

Pinch of Cinnamon

 

First, Soak the raw almonds in filtered water for 6-12 hours, or overnight. 

After soaking, dump that gross almond water out, then rinse the almonds. (This is to get rid of the small amounts of cyanide present in almond skins. There's not enough to make you sick but it can upset the tummy of some folks)

After dumping the soaking water and rinse water, combine your soaked almonds with all the ingredients in a large container. 

 

After combining ingredients add to blender. 

Blend for 5-10 minutes, or until ingredients are pureed.

Friendo Blendo

After blending pour the mixture into a nut bag or a folded cheese cloth, and squeeze as much of the liquid out as you can.

And viola! You have your own batch of delicious, healthy almond milk. 

There are also many uses for the leftover Almond meal, for example gluten free cookies!
